Nightly Recap- Feb. 24

Top Performances

Stephen Curry (Golden State PG)- Returned from an ankle injury to score 32 points and dish out eight assists in a 114-107 win over the Washington Wizards. Curry hit 11 of 18 field goal attempts, including a circus layup over two Washington players that went almost above the rim and came back down without hitting the rim. He continues to be at the top of MVP discussions, and games like these only bolster his resume.

Kevin Love (Cleveland PF)- Shot 8 of 16 from the field and scored 24 points in a 103-92 win against the Detroit Pistons. All of Love's points came via the 3-point line (8-14 3PM), and the big man from UCLA also pulled down 9 rebounds as the Cavs won their 17th out of their last 19 contests.

Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City PG)- Dominated the Pacers to the tune of 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a 105-92 win. In yet another triple-double for Westbrook, he shot 8 of 19 from the field, and put up the incredible numbers in just 28 minutes of action, as he sat out the fourth quarter. February has been the month of Westbrook, as he is averaging 29.5 points, 10.1 assists and 8.2 rebounds, while the Thunder have won seven straight games.

Serge Ibaka (Oklahoma City PF)-Posted a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds in the Thunder's win over the Pacers on Tuesday night. Ibaka made the most of his 11 shot opportunities during the game, sinking nine of them, while also adding in three blocked shots.

Paul Pierce (Washington SF)- The veteran small forward poured in 25 points during a 114-107 loss to the Golden State Warriors. Pierce hit 7 of 11 field goal attempts, and all nine free throw attempts in the loss, scoring in double figures for only the second time in two weeks.

Play of the Night

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James passed Scottie Pippen for most assists all-time by a forward on Tuesday night. It was a behind-the-back pass from James to Love, who connected on the 3-pointer midway through the second quarter that pushed the 30-year-old to the top of the leaderboard.



Notes- Bulls guard Derrick Rose will have surgery to repair a torn right meniscus, and then a timetable for return will be determined. It is the same injury suffered early last season by Rose, and a crushing blow to Chicago's Finals' aspirations.

Nightly Recap- Jan. 24

Top Performances

Zach Randolph (Memphis PF)- Tallied 17 points and 14 rebounds in a 101-83 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Randolph had his way against a weak 76ers' defense, and also added in four assists. He has recorded a double-double in every game since his return from injury.

Tim Hardaway Jr. (New York SG)- Scored a team-high 25 points in a 76-71 loss to the Charlotte Hornets. With Carmelo Anthony out, Hardaway Jr. took up the leading to role, hitting 9 of 17 shots, including five 3-pointers. He also added in six rebounds and five assists, has scored 10+ points in his last six games.

Paul Pierce (Washington SF)- Recorded 19 points and six rebounds in a 103-96 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Pierce shot 7 of 10 from the field, and hit three 3-pointers in the loss. He also became the fourth player in NBA history to make 2,000 3-pointers, joining Ray Allen, Reggie Miller and Jason Terry. Pierce has scored in double-digits in six of his last eight contests.

Daily Recap- Nov. 8

Who Was Hot

John Wall (Washington PG)- Had a phenomenal night and posted a stat line of 26 points, 17 assists and seven rebounds in a 133-132 overtime win against the Boston Celtics. With the exception of nine turnovers, Wall played extremely well, and his 26 points were the most he has scored in almost two weeks (28 versus Cleveland on Dec. 3.).

Paul Pierce (Washington SF)- The Truth had a big game, scoring 28 points and grabbing seven rebounds in Washington's win over the Celtics in overtime on Monday. Even with extended minutes, Pierce shot the ball extremely well (9-12 FG, 6-6 FT), and his seven rebounds were the most he had grabbed in over two weeks (10 rebounds at Milwaukee on Nov. 22).

Marcus Smart (Boston PG/SG)- Scored 23 points on 7-14 shooting in an overtime loss to the Celtics. Smart had the best game of his young career, and should receive more minutes in head coach Brad Stevens' rotation.

Eric Bledsoe (Phoenix PG/SG)- Recorded his first career triple-double (27 points, 16 assists and 11 rebounds) in a 121-120 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Bledsoe played the game of his life on Monday, but it was not enough as the Suns fell just short on a Blake Griffin game-winner from  3-point range. Phoenix fans should be thrilled to see the Kentucky product playing so well, as it will bode well for their deep playoff hopes.

Dion Waiters (Cleveland SG)- Tallied a season-high 26 points in a 110-88 win over the Brooklyn Nets. Waiters had his best game of the season, but this will most likely be a rare occurrence, as Waiters' consistency is not at a strong level at this point in his career.

Blake Griffin (Los Angeles PF)- Scored 45 points in a 121-120 overtime win over the Phoenix Suns. Griffin hit 14 of 24 field goal, 15 of 17 free throws, and the game-winning 3-pointer to beat the Suns at the buzzer. The 45 points were two off of his career-high, and were by far his highest point total this season.

Play of the Night

Clippers' forward Blake Griffin hit the game-winning 3-pointer to beat the Phoenix Suns 121-120 in overtime. Griffin finished with 45 points, with none bigger than his last three, which came off of a friendly bounce from the rim.

Who Was Hot

John Wall (Washington PG)- Got back on track Monday, posting a double-double of 18 pints and 13 assists in a 107-86 win over the Miami Heat. Wall had only scored 18 combined points and dished out 14 combined assists in his last two games, so this is what Washington fans were expecting versus Miami. Wall continues to perform as one of the best point guards in the league, and it will likely stay that way for years to come.

Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio SF)- Scored 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a 109-103 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. With Tony Parker and Tim Duncan resting for the night, Leonard took on more responsibilities on the offensive end of the floor, and showcased his talents once again.

Michael Carter-Williams (Philadelphia PG)- Followed up his triple-double performance with another fantastic performance, scoring 24 points in a loss to the Spurs. Carter-Williams also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out seven assists, and will continue to fill up the stat sheet for the 76ers.

Shabazz Muhammad (Minnesota SG)- Tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 127-101 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Muhammad has reached a double-digit point total in three of the last four games, and is starting to earn consistent minutes in the Timberwolves' rotation.

Who Was Not

Jamal Crawford (Los Angeles SG)- Scored only four points on 1 of 5 shooting in a 127-101 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was the first time in six games that Crawford failed to scored at least 19 points, but keep in mind that his minutes were low because of the blowout win. Expect the high-volume shooter to get back to his usual scoring output in L.A.'s next contest.

Paul Pierce (Washington SF)- Played only 20 minutes, recording four points in a 107-86 win over the Miami Heat on Monday night. Pierce's numbers have been up and down this season, but has scored in double figures in eight of his last ten games.

Play of the Night

Spurs' guard Marco Belinelli soared for a unlikely posterization of 76ers' center Henry Sims on Monday night. The Italian sharpshooter does not get to the rim often, so appreciate this dunk while you can.
